Huw ThomasAs a teacher Huw has had 10 years experience as a peripatetic teacher in Schools and has also taught privately. He has held the position of Specialist Trumpet/Cornet Teacher at both Leicestershire and Lincolnshire Music Services and is very committed to music education. Many of his students have progressed to nationally recognised music colleges and also won positions in orchestras at a professional level. He also has extensive knowledge as a clinician, having worked students through challenging embouchure changes in order for them to progress further as performers. Huw is also committed to helping musicians young and old with issues relating to Performance Anxiety.

Early in 2007 Huw became a practitioner of NLP.

NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming, a name that encompasses the three most influential components involved in producing human experience: neurology, language and programming. The neurological system regulates how our bodies function, language determines how we interface and communicate with other people and our programming determines the kinds of models of the world we create. Neuro-Linguistic Programming describes the fundamental dynamics between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how their interplay affects our body and behaviour (programming).

This psychologically based skill is utilised by Huw in a variety of ways;

1. The use of teaching strategies which are tailored to the individual’s unique learning style.
2. The use of language that encourages and motivates students.
3 A full range of strategies and techniques to achieve performance excellence.
